这是一部非常震撼和争议性的电影，当年看过《打蛇》的观众无不被片中虐待「人蛇」的残酷手段，吓得毛骨悚然。其中有一场为防人蛇偷走，将三十多名男女的衣服全部脱光，困在小屋中，令人瞠目结舌；又有蛇头强姦、虐待女偷渡客，惨无人道。导演牟敦芾借「人蛇」为题材，发挥变态娱乐还是真实反映非法入境者来港的悲惨命运\，一直都是争议焦点。《打蛇》讲述一班人蛇偷渡客来港，避过警方搜捕，但不幸落入蛇头集团，他们亲友被勒索带钱赎人，否则人蛇会遭虐打致死。电影资料搜集丰富，拍出偷渡客对香港的憧憬和挣扎心态，颇为难得。

早年的香港三级，由于受拍摄技术原因，少有高清版的，否则可以像色戒一样，慢慢分析是不是真的真军片

当年看过几个人蛇的纪录片，很多事实可能比这个片子还凄惨
当然也有待遇好的人蛇，少数了
